Our Programs
The ABCN's focus is education and improving opportunities for students and schools that are most in need.
The main programs we offer:
- Partners in Learning
- GOALS - Growing Opportunities and Learning Skills
- Spark
- Aspirations
- Career Choice Day
- InterAct Arts Experience
- Pop - Partnerships, Opportunities, Projects
Programs are developed, piloted, evaluated and refined. The programs have been very successful and have been expanded across Australia to four states and one territory. The ABCN also plans to extend their partnering, mentoring and support programs into other areas of social need.
Other programs include:
TEAM - Technology, Enterprise and Mathematics
ABCN’s first subject specific program, developed in partnership with Ernst & Young. TEAM is a mentoring program aimed at Year 10 students who have an interest or skill in mathematics and technology (IT) related subjects. The objective of the program is to stimulate the student’s interest in technology and maths through a series of project management workshops, highlighting the fact that both subject areas are practically applied in everyday life. In 2009, the TEAM Program has been implemented at Roxburgh College, Roxburgh Park in Victoria, and Sir Joseph Banks High School, Revesby, in NSW.
RISE - Read, Inspire, Strive, Exceed
RISE is a reading mentoring program for high school students which typically lasts between 8 – 16 weeks across 1, 2 or 3 school terms. The purpose of the RISE program is to offer opportunities to high school students who have been identified by their teachers ‘as those having lower literacy skills (the ability to read and write the printed word) and/or less opportunities for reading outside of school and would therefore benefit from more one on one attention in the school environment’.
100 Faces, 100 Stories
2008 saw the expansion of the very successful '40 Faces 40 Stories' initiative that stemmed from Partner in Learning meetings between Ralph Norris, CEO, CBA and Beth Godwin, Principal, Cabramatta High School.
Member company staff mentored students in this visual and text based program allowing students to explore their cultural origins and express them through a written and creative piece of work. The program was designed to be high impact, with one-on-one mentor time with students to produce high quality work, showcased at the end of the program.
