2008 Highlights
Four years after the ABCN was created, 2008 was our year of greatest growth and expansion.
Over 2,000 corporate mentors and over 3,000 students participated in the 900 ABCN sessions run across Australia.
During the year the ABCN was recognised as an exemplar organisation in Parliament by the Prime Minister and also by the Business Council of Australia.
We also invested in established the ABCN as a fully independent body, with our own premises in Sydney.
We ran 6 national programs and 2 State pilot programs.
Partners in Learning
- Grew in every state and introduced in the ACT - now over 80 partnerships
GOALS our Year 9 Mentoring Program

We increased our georgraphic spread into the ACT, as well as NSW, Victoria, Queensland and WA.

Spark
- Increased to over 50 programs and 500 sessions across Australia
- Increased number of schools by 400% to 45
- Our goal was to double our mentors but we increased them by over 300% to 765!
Career Choice Day
- Company visits TREBLED and added 22 new schools
- Ran 4 new programs in response to schools needs
Interact Arts Experience
- In 2008 over 700 students have participated nationally in experiences such as The Sydney Writers' Festival in NSW, the 'Rogue Traders' concert in
Aspirations
- Year 11 coaching program run in Perth and Sydney with 4 schools
TEAM - Technology Enterprise and Maths Pilot
- first subject specific program to encourage students to stick with Maths and learn project management skills funded by Ernst & Young
100 Faces, 100 Stories

After being run at one school last year increased to our largest pilot working nationally with over 200 students and 160 mentors producing a book and website www.abcn.com.au/100faces/
Leadership Exchange

Connecting business executive and senior teachers in sustained professional development program (piloted with Microsoft) and also on member company professional development courses
We also tested whether staff involvement in the ABCN reflected back to the company as a positive engagement outcome and found:
