2010 Highlights
In it's sixth year, ABCN has seen another great year of growth, with programs expanding into South Australia and Tasmania for the first time.
We have further deepened our involvement and added more schools to the partnership network. We are now working with 188 schools in 7 states, with 8,800 students involved in ABCN activities. More than 36,000 volunteer hours were given by over 4,400 corporate volunteers over the course of 2010.
Comments from school principals around Australia on our programs in 2010:
'Had another absolutely wonderful GOALS completion ceremony today - another 18 Year 10's showing wonderful growth in confidence, awareness and life skills. Both years have been special - I recall last year having that tingling feeling when seeing students emerge from self-imposed or life circumstance imposed limitations on their aspirations. This year, the Associate Principal who looked after these students in Years 8 and 9, actually had goose bumps when one of the students - a very shy but delightful aboriginal student - addressed the gathering confidently and in a very engaging manner.' GOALS Principal WA 2010
'The program has been a tremendous success with feedback from parents, students and the mentors overwhelmingly positive. I have seen the children’s faces light up when their mentor arrives and have watched the positive interactions between them. All the children have had a 100% attendance rate on the days of their SPARK program.' Spark Principal SA 2010
'In my education career, it's one of the programs I've seen have long term significant impact.' Aspirations Principal NSW 2010
