  ABCN Celebrates 2013 

ABCN celebrated the end of a tremendous year at various annual events around Australia last month which were generously hosted by Commonwealth Bank and PwC. A highlight of the Sydney celebration was the Islander Dance Troupe from Granville Boys High School who performed the Haka for 150 of our supporters.

There’s been much to celebrate at ABCN in 2013. Almost 12,000 students participated in ABCN core programs, with 4,000 volunteers from member companies giving their time to mentor students and partner with schools.

Interview Skills Workshop

How does pretending to be a monkey improve your interview technique? That was the question for many students who took part in ABCN’s Interview Skills Workshop, piloted this year. However, it soon became apparent to both students and their mentors that it wasn’t the monkey that mattered but putting yourself outside your comfort zone.

When Kenny Tran completed GOALS in 2006 he was a Year 10 student at Mirrabooka Senior High School in Western Australia. Seven years on, he has completed school and embarked on a university course at the University of Western Australia.
